Bardon’s hidden rule
1. BARDON’S HIDDEN RULE
Odd degrees vs even degrees
360 genii of the zodiac
Practice of Magical Evocation
2. Where the names come from
Hammer’s 1725 list of Abramelin spirits, dealt out one per degree:
12 signs × 30 degrees = 360
degree 1 → 30
blue = odd degrees
amber = even degrees
3. The rule
ODD degrees: 1° 3° 5° 7° … ends in a CONSONANT
EVEN degrees: 2° 4° 6° 8° … ends in a VOWEL
two polarities alternating, + / −
4. Bardon edited the endings
Source name (Abramelin) → Bardon’s name
Aries 2° (even): MALACH → MALACHA
Aries 10° (even): TABORIX → TABORI
Leo 2° (even): METHAER → METHAERA
Virgo 2° (even): BRUAH → BRUAHI
Cancer 30° (even): CHARONTON → CHARONTHONA
Gemini 20° (even): KOLAN → KOLANI
Odd degrees keep their consonant ending:
MORECH (Aries 1°) KOSEM (Leo 1°) MILON (Cap 1°)
5. Does it hold on all 360?
Final letter of each name
ODD degrees (180): consonant 160, vowel 20 (160 / 180 follow the rule)
EVEN degrees (180): consonant 23, vowel 157 (157 / 180 follow the rule)
317 / 360 = 88 %
chance = 50 %
Traced to the source list: 86 of 104 consonant endings at even degrees became vowels
6. The sigils follow the same beat
Average of the 180 sigils at each parity
ODD: mean width 74 px
EVEN: mean width 82 px
Even sigils are wider
in 68 % of the 180 adjacent pairs
(1°/2°, 3°/4° … in each sign)
Aries 1° to 6°
p < 0.0001 (adjacent degrees compared)
7. Conclusion
Two polarities, one beat
ODD: consonant ending · narrower sigil
EVEN: vowel ending · wider sigil
The parity is a rule of the list
(names edited, sigils drawn in a series),
not a code of the name inside the sigil.
